Credits
To be eligible for the Middle East Studies Program, applicants must be enrolled as full-time students and receive academic credit for the program from their home institutions. The MESP does not grant credit directly; Rather, it serves as an extension campus of the member schools of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. Academic credit is recommended to (and granted by) students' home institutions.
The program recommends to home institutions that students be granted the equivalent of 16 semester hours of credit (24 units), distributed as follows:

Credits are generally applied to a student's academic major, minor, or general education requirements and to the home institution's language requirement. The seminar courses correspond to upper-level courses in other areas. Grades Grades are based on many factors including exams, essays, participation, and attentiveness, especially when studying on-site. An "A" grade indicates excellent, creative and integrative work, revealing superior analysis and content, not just compliance or competence. A "B" grade indicates good, even competent, but not excellent work. And a "C" grade indicates mediocre performance. Because of time and travel contingencies, students do not receive final grades until posted by their home institution upon return to the United States.
